McAfee: “Brown Will Win Games or Get His Ass Fired”

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The West Virginia Mountaineers face an uphill battle tonight when they travel to Happy Valley to play the ultra-talented and #7 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions in front of 107,000 fans. Although the Mountaineers are not expected to win by most experts, the expectation is for West Virginia to win more than lose this season.

This morning on ESPN’s College Gameday, former West Virginia kicker/punter turned media personality Pat McAfee said the following about Neal Brown heading into today’s game: “Neal Brown is going to win games this year or his ass is getting fired! He’s taking on an incredible Penn State team to start the season.”

Brown, who is 22-25 overall and 14-21 in the Big 12 Conference in four seasons with the Mountaineers, is considered to be on the hot seat entering the season. In fact, many consider it a miracle that he survived last season after finishing 5-7 overall and 3-6 in the Big 12. West Virginia has had three losing seasons in its last four years and has had one of the worst four-year runs in program history.
