Miami Dolphins Hire Former WVU Star Jahmile Addae as Cornerbacks Coach

Addae brings a wealth of experience to Miami’s defensive staff, both at the professional and collegiate levels. Most recently, he served as the cornerbacks coach for the Bills, where he helped develop one of the NFL’s more consistent secondaries. Now, he returns to South Florida with a deep background in defensive back development and a strong reputation as a teacher of the position.

Before making the jump to the NFL, Addae built an impressive résumé in college football. He has coached defensive backs at Miami, Georgia, West Virginia, Minnesota, and Arizona, working under multiple high-profile programs and defensive systems. His ability to adapt across different schemes has made him one of the more respected secondary coaches in the game.

For West Virginia fans, Addae is a familiar and highly respected name. He was a key figure on the Mountaineers’ staff and served as co-defensive coordinator in 2020, playing a major role in shaping a defense that was one of the strongest units in the Big 12 during that stretch. Prior to coaching, Addae was also a standout player at WVU, giving him deep ties to the program and a strong understanding of the game from both sides of the sideline.

The Dolphins’ decision to bring in Addae signals a continued emphasis on improving and stabilizing their secondary. With his mix of college recruiting experience and recent NFL coaching success, Addae is well-positioned to help develop Miami’s young defensive backs while adding valuable insight from his time with Buffalo.

For Addae, the move represents another step in a steady climb through the coaching ranks — and a return to the state of Florida, where he previously coached at the University of Miami. For Dolphins fans, it’s a hire that brings proven experience, strong player development credentials, and a coach who knows what it takes to succeed at both the college and professional levels.
