Miles McBride NOT on the ESPN Top 50 NCAA Tournament Players List

Morgantown, West Virginia – ESPN released an article today ranking the Top 50 players in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.  John Gasaway, an “ESPN Insider”, created the list and excluded one very notable player.

Miles “Deuce” McBride, the sensational sophomore for the West Virginia Mountaineers, was nowhere to be found on the Top 50 list.  Despite averaging 15.4 points, 4.7 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game while leading the Mountaineers to an 18-9 overall record and 11-6 record in the Big 12 Conference.

The top ten players in this year’s NCAA Tournament, according to ESPN, includes: 1.) Cade Cunnigham, Oklahoma State, 2.) Luka Garza, Iowa, 3.) Ayo Dosunmu, Illinois, 4.) Jared Butler, Baylor, 5.) Corey Kispert, Gonzaga, 6.) Evan Mobley, USC, 7.) Jalen Suggs, Gonzaga, 8.) Kofi Cockburn, Illinois, 9.) Hunter Dickinson, Michigan, and 10.) Drew Timme, Gonzaga.

One West Virginia player, Derek Culver, did make the list, coming in at #33 on the list.  Culver, a first team Big 12 player, averaged 14.6 points and 9.8 rebounds this season for the Mountaineers.

It’s unclear what ESPN based these rankings on, but Miles McBride is absolutely one of the best guards in the entire tournament.  Not only should McBride be in the Top 50, he should in the 15-25 range at the very least.
