Miles McBride Scores Career-High in First NBA Start

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The New York Knicks were without their star point guard, Jalen Brunson, who was out with a calf injury, but former West Virginia guard Miles “Deuce” McBride stepped in for his first career NBA start and led the Knicks to victory.

McBride, who recently signed a new three-year contract extension, scored a career-high 19 points (7-10 FG, 4-7 3PT), and added 6 rebounds and 5 assists in 38 minutes to lead the New York Knicks to a 106-94 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night.

After the game, McBride was asked what is giving him so much confidence in his shooting right now, and McBride responded by saying, “Honestly, my preparation. You know, I always knew I could shoot. Misses don’t bother me. You’ve just got to keep putting shots up and shooting with confidence.”

The Knicks are back in action on Monday against the Orlando Magic and it’s unclear at this time if Jalen Brunson will be able to play due to his injury. If Brunson is unable to play, McBride will likely be back in the starting lineup on Monday.
