Mountaineers Could Miss on Top Target

Morgantown, West Virginia – Jaden Mangham was a slam dunk to commit to the West Virginia Mountaineers…until yesterday.

Mangham, a 6’3 185 pound defensive back, is rated a the 7th best player in the state of Michigan and the 12th best athlete in the nation by 247.

With an incredible 39 scholarship offers, Mangham held offers from Alabama, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State and Virginia Tech, among several others.

Last month, Mangham cut his list down to six schools – Illinois, Nebraska, Michigan, Michigan State, Georgia Tech and West Virginia – but it’s reportedly down to Michigan State and West Virginia.

Mangham was considered a lock for the Mountaineers until recently.  Mangham didn’t attend West Virginia’s Morgantown meetup for players who have already committed to the team.  Then, yesterday, Mangham visited Michigan State.

Michigan State is not only his hometown team, it’s also the one team that could convince him to change his mind at the very last minute.

Following his visit to Michigan State, Mangham announced that he would make his commitment announcement today, August 1st.  However, those plans changed when Mangham said that he has decided to postpone his commitment with no new date announced.

Mangham said the following on his personal social media account earlier today: “Due to the fact that I lost internet and AC, we will be postponing my commitment!  My family and I are dealing with that right now!”

Now, anything could happen and West Virginia’s chances of landing him have gone from 99% to about 50/50.  Stay tuned!
