The #12 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers, now 17-4 overall and 5-3 in the Big 12 Conference, defeated the Kansas State Wildcats (9-12, 2-6) by a score of 66-57.  The Mountaineers are now 11-0 on the season at home.

In what was a very ugly first half for both teams, the Mountaineers led 30-27 at halftime and slowly started to open up the lead in the 2nd half.  West Virginia was led by sophomore forward Derek Culver, who got his 5th double-double of the season, finishing with 19 points (8-15 FG) and 14 rebounds.  Oscar Tshiebwe had 8 points (1-2 FG) and 8 rebounds for the Mountaineers, and Chase Harler added 8 points off the bench.

Kansas State was led by senior guard Xavier Sneed, who finished with 11 points but only shot 2-13 from the field and 0-7 from three point range.  David Sloan added 12 points for the Wildcats.

West Virginia will next play at home on Wednesday, February 5th against Iowa State.  The game will be televised on ESPN2 at 7:00PM.
