Mountaineers Dominate Kansas State

Morgantown, West Virginia – The 10th ranked West Virginia Mountaineers, 17-6 overall and 10-4 in the Big 12 Conference, started slow but ultimately pulled away in the second half to beat the Kansas State Wildcats (7-19, 3-14) by a score of 65-42!

The Mountaineers were led by Sean McNeil, who finished the game with 16 points on 6-13 from the field and 4-7 from three point range.  McNeil has finally found his stroke and has become an incredible perimeter threat for West Virginia.

Miles McBride didn’t start the game with a “lower body injury” and only had 5 points on 2-6 shooting.  Derek Culver added 11 points and 6 rebounds, and Jalen Bridges had 8 points on 3-3 from the field and 1-1 from three point range.

PLAY OF THE GAME:

The win means that West Virginia likely jump several spots in Monday’s updated Associated Press Top 25.  Five teams currently ranked ahead of the Mountaineers (Illinois, Alabama, Oklahoma, Villanova and Iowa) lost this week, so it’s conceivable that West Virginia could move up in the 5-7 range.

Now, the Mountaineers face a huge clash with the #2 ranked Baylor Bears on Tuesday evening at the WVU Coliseum.  The game begins at 5:00PM and will be televised live on ESPN2.
