Mountaineers drop in AP Poll

The West Virginia Mountaineers, following a close loss at Kansas on Saturday, dropped one spot in the AP poll from #16 last week to #17 today.

The Mountaineers, now 11-2, have the toughest strength of schedule in the nation and is ranked #2 by the RPI and #12 in the updated NET rankings, which is what the selection committee uses to seed teams in March.

While rankings are essentially meaningless at this time of the year, it is a good indication of how voters and the nation views a team.  The Mountaineers will next play tonight at Stillwater, Oklahoma against the Oklahoma State Cowboys at 9:00PM on ESPN2.
