The West Virginia Mountaineers, now 16-4 overall and 4-3 in Big 12 Conference play, could not overcome the hot-shooting Texas Tech Red Raiders (13-7 overall and 4-3 in Big 12) and the questionable officiating.

Texas Tech shot 11-17 from three point range (64.7%) and West Virginia was only 4-18 (22.2%) for the game.  The Mountaineers were also called for four questionable technical fouls in the second half, none of which seemed blatant or obvious.

West Virginia was led by Derek Culver, who finished with 16 points and 2 rebounds.  Gabe Osabuohien had 15 points and 4 rebounds off the bench, and Senior Jermaine Haley added 10 points and 3 rebounds.

Texas Tech was led by Davide Moretti, a junior guard who had 25 points on 4-5 from three point range.  Jahmi’us Ramsey, a freshman guard, added 21 points on 5-8 from three.

The Mountaineers next play at home on Saturday, Feb. 1st at 2:00PM and the game will be televised by ESPN2.  This is a bit of a revenge game for West Virginia, as Kansas State easily handled the Mountaineers 84-68 in Manhattan, Kansas on January 18th.
