Mountaineers Get Huge Win in Austin

Austin, Texas – The #13 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers, now 15-6 overall and 8-4 in conference play, came back from 19 points down early in the 2nd half to defeat the 12th ranked Texas Longhorns, 84-82!

Two Texas Longhorns players (Courtney Ramey and Andrew Jones) were involved in an altercation early in the 2nd half and this seemed to be the turning point of the game.  Following the sideline scuffle between the two players, West Virginia went on a huge run.

The Mountaineers were led by a balanced attack with five players in double figures.  Miles McBride led the way with 17 points, Emmitt Matthews, Jr. had 14, Derek Culver had 14, Sean McNeil 16 and Taz Sherman added 14 points off the bench.

The Mountaineers will remain in Texas and play the TCU Horned Frogs (11-8 overall and 4-6 in the Big 12 Conference) on Tuesday evening at 7:00PM.  The game will be televised on ESPN2.  West Virginia will then travel Waco, Texas to play the #2 ranked Baylor Bears on Thursday evening at 5:00PM.  That game will also be played on ESPN2.

What a great way to start a very difficult six day road trip in Texas!  Let’s Go Mountaineers!
