Mountaineers Make 2024 Top 25

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The West Virginia Mountaineers have put together an impressive 8-4 overall record and a 6-3 record in the Big 12 Conference in 2023, shattering the preseason expectations. When a team has some success, it often increases expectations for the following season, particularly when the team returns several key players.

This, of course, is the case for West Virginia, who returns much of its outstanding offensive line, many of its best wide receivers, its conference-best running back corps and Garrett Greene, a dual threat quarterback who will be playing in his final season for the Mountaineers. Although there will certainly be question marks on defense, the West Virginia offense will raise eyebrows of the media and others making predictions for 2024.

According to College Football Report, West Virginia made the Top 25 of their “way-too-early college football top 25 rankings for 2024.” The Mountaineers, according to College Football Report, are ranked 20th in the outlet’s Top 25 December Edition. A lot can change between now and when the season starts next Fall, but it’s great to see the Mountaineers finally getting some early preseason hype during the Neal Brown Era.
