Morgantown, West Virginia – Paced by senior Taz Sherman’s 29 points, the West Virginia Mountaineers rolled in their preseason exhibition opener over Akron, 74-59.
Sherman was impressive, shooting 10-14 from the field, 3-5 from three point range and 6-7 from the foul line, while adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Senior Sean McNeil had 10 points (2-6 3PT, 4-12 FG), Isaiah Cottrell scored 8 points and had 2 rebounds, and Jalen Bridges added 7 points (3-5).
The Mountaineers will next play in ten days on Tuesday, November 9th at home against Oakland in their season opener. Three days after their opener, West Virginia will welcome the Pitt Panthers to the WVU Coliseum for the basketball version of the Backyard Brawl on Friday, November 12th.
