Mountaineers Score Big Conference Win Over Horned Frogs

Fort Worth, Texas – The West Virginia Mountaineers (3-4, 1-3) broke a three game losing streak by defeating the TCU Horned Frogs (3-4, 1-3) 29-17.

West Virginia got down early, giving up a touchdown on the first kickoff return of the game.  However, the Mountaineers answered back with 13 unanswered points and went up 20-17 at halftime.

Jarret Doege had perhaps his best overall game of the season, finishing 21/28 for 257 yards.  Redshirt freshman quarterback Garrett Greene played the third possession of the game and led the Mountaineers right down the field highlighted by a 68 yard run.

TCU’s defense has been among the worst in the nation this season and West Virginia took advantage.  Leddie Brown rushed 24 times for 111 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Tony Mathis added 42 quality yards on 10 carries.

West VIrginia’s wide receivers once again had a great game with Bryce Ford-Wheaton catching 6 passes for 65 yards, Sean Ryan had 4 catches for 81 yards, Winston Wright had 4 catches for 59 yards and Mike O’Laughlin added 4 catches for 23 yards.

The Mountaineers are back at home next Saturday, October 30th at 2:00PM to play the Iowa State Cyclones (5-2 overall, 3-1 in the Big 12), who upset the #8 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys today.
