Mountaineers Set to Hire New Coach

According to Football Scoop, Neal Brown is close to signing a new coach.  Gerard Parker, the current Penn State wide receivers coach, plans to join the West Virginia staff very soon.

Parker, who was born in Huntington, West Virginia, played with Brown on the Kentucky Wildcats football team back in 2000.  Parker spent one year at Penn State and previously coached at Marshall, Purdue, Cincinnati and Duke.

Parker was Kentucky’s all-time leading receiving with 4,814 career receiving yards in high school.  His 65 receptions, 1,504 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns as a senior made him a finalist for the 1999 Kentucky Mr. Football Award.
