Mountaineers Upset Bears on Senior Day

In front of a sold-out crowd at the Coliseum, the Mountaineers (21-10) upset the 4th-ranked Baylor Bears (26-4) 76-64. After a sluggish start, Mountaineers got rolling and fought until the final whistle, finishing the game with 52 second half points to put the game away.

The senior day crowd was alive and well, and helped lead the valiant effort by the Mountaineer Basketball team. Emmitt Matthews Jr. led all scorers for the Mountaineers, finishing with 18 points. Tshiebwe put together a solid outing against the Bears with a double-double, 16 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams finished between 40-50%, as West Virginia finished with 46.2% and Baylor with 42.4%.

This is the second-consecutive win for the Mountaineers after a brutal February stretch. The Mountaineers will now advance play in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament next week. This is the second top-5 win for the Mountaineers this season, with the previous being against Ohio State.
