Neal Brown Seemed Vague on Quarterbacks in First Spring Presser

Yesterday, Neal Brown had his first press conference of spring camp. The head man covered many different areas of his team with questions pouring in from the media. As an outside spectator to the presser, there was something that was very apparent to me – Brown doesn’t seem to be completely sold on a quarterback yet.

Brown never came right out and committed to either Jarret Doege or Garrett Greene, leading some fans to believe that there will yet again be another wide open competition. Instead of leaning towards either of the gentlemen, he seemed to insinuate that he was going to give both a chance to prove themselves.

Brown listed areas that both quarterbacks will have to improve in this spring, as well as areas they must continue to excel in. While it was stated that Doege never put the team in a position to lose a game last season, he also claimed that there are aspects of his game that must improve if the team plans to compete. Greene wasn’t elaborated on to a lengthy extent, but Brown seemed excited about what he will show this spring.

The entire exchange between Brown and the media just seemed odd when it came to quarterbacks. Below will be a link posted of yesterday’s press conference (via WVUSports). Give it a listen and formulate your own opinion.

It could all just be an overthinking of the situation, but on the surface there’s a feel that something is going on behind the scenes.
