Following an action packed week fifteen, new bowl projections are beginning to roll in. WVU had the week off following the cancellation of the Oklahoma game, so they did not have much movement in terms of their destination. However, they have had some change in their opponent.

Mark Schlabach, a staff member at ESPN, still has the Mountaineers playing in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl, but this week he has their opponent set as the Rutgers Scarlett Knights.

Rutgers is in year one of their second stint with head coach Greg Schiano. They finished the regular season at 3-5, but were competitive throughout the entire season. This comes after the program went through an extended period of time where they were a cellar dweller in the Big Ten.

WVU and Rutgers are former Big East Rivals. They last played in 2011, with WVU winning 41-31 in blizzard-like conditions in Piscataway, New Jersey. The Mountaineers lead the all-time series 33-4-2, and have won the last seventeen in the series.
