Morgantown, West Virginia – Immediately after four star recruit Nicco Marchiol officially signed to play for the West Virginia Mountaineers, he was asked what he loved about West Virginia.
Nicco responded by saying, “I think the feel of family and you know what they say, ‘Don’t commit to coaches, commit to schools.’ And I think I’ve done a really good job of finding a place that has a need for me and a place where I can start a culture, and really build culture of winning around the team It’s a really good opportunity for me and for the 2022 class coming in with me.”
The attention then turned to Marchiol’s father, who has a very close relationship with his son and has been a big part of his journey as a player.
“It means the world to me (that he can be here). He’s been my best friend since I started playing football. He was my youth coach since I was 5 years old and I owe it all to him. He put me in the situation to be great and all I needed to do was perform. I owe it all to him and he’s been my biggest supporter since day one. There’s no better joy than seeing him be excited after my successes. To have a guy like him in my life has made me a better person and the people around me better people. It’s just such a blessing.”
