MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The West Virginia Mountaineers just missed making the NCAA Tournament this season and almost every expert believes the program was robbed of a trip to the Big Dance.
According to the NCAA Selection Committe Chair, Bubba Cunningham, the reason the Mountaineers didn´t make the tournament was because star player Tucker DeVries was injured.
“The last four teams that were out, it was a tough call. The first team out was West Virginia. They had an outstanding year and unfortunately, but knowing Tucker DeVries was hurt, you know, player availability is something that we talk about quite a bit.”
Cunnigham just so happens to also be the Athletic Director at North Carolina, who obviously made the tournament. North Carolina was 22-13 this season, but they finished 1-12 in Quad 1 games, while the Mountaineers went 6-10 in Quad 1 games. The selection committee has long stated that Quad 1 games were crucial to be included in the field, but apparently not in this case. Shockingly, Cunningham will reportedly receive a $100,000 bonus if North Carolina makes the tournament, which is an obvious conflict of interest.
Not sure if there’s ever been a more clear-cut case of corruption in college athletics. Why are Athletic Directors making these decisions? What’s clear now is that Bubba Cunningham just made $100,000 at West Virginia‘a expense. @BubbaUNC pic.twitter.com/gsBK5OMyUl

While Cunnigham and the NCAA Selection Committee will deny it, this is an obvious case of NCAA corruption and should be investigated. In fact, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey posted the following message on his personal social media account last night: ¨The National Corrupt Athletic Association is continuing its shady activities against WVU. There’s clearly some home cookin’ going on in North Carolina. An investigation may be warranted.¨
Today, Morrisey announced that he is taking actions against the NCAA today. ¨Today I am joining West Virginia Attorney General to announce actions against the National Corrupt Athletic Association. Livestream at 1PM right here on X.”
