Expansion has been the topic of conversation surrounding the Big 12 for the last few days. With the conference set to gain BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF, they are also set to lose Oklahoma and Texas. This would put them at an even twelve teams placed throughout the United States.

The Athletic reported yesterday that the Big 12 was now in ongoing discussions with Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah about the school possibly joining the conference. Now that the news is out there, social media is buzzing about the possibilities of an expanded Big 12.

Heartland College Sports, a media outlet that mainly covers the Big 12 Conference, shared their idea for a rejuvenated league, and honestly, it’s not bad.

The outlet suggested putting the teams into PODs based on their location.

POD 1 – BYU, Arizona, Utah, Arizona State

POD 2 – Colorado, Kansas State, Kansas, Oklahoma State

POD 3 – Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, Houston

POD 4 – Iowa State, Cincinnati, West Virginia, UCF

This would be the best scenario for the Mountaineers geographically.
