Player of the Game

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — After a slow start, the West Virginia Mountaineers (1-1) cruised to a 56-17 blowout victory over the Duquesne Dukes. Several young Mountaineers received playing time due to the lopsided score, but one player stood out among the rest.

Hudson Clement, a 6’1 redshirt freshman wide receiver from Martinsburg, West Virginia, had an absolute coming-out party! Clement had 5 receptions for an incredible 177 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Mountaineers’ victory.

Clement starred at Martinsburg High School, where he was named the MaxPreps and MetroNews State Player of the Year as a senior while leading the Bulldogs to a state championship with 87 catches for 1,709 yards and 23 touchdowns during his senior season at Martinsburg.

Clement is currently a walk-on, but will almost certainly earn a scholarship in the very near future, as it appears that the Mountaineers had a star born tonight!
