MORGANTOWN, WV – From the moment you walked onto campus at 7 am to join the tailgaters, the Mountaineer faithful were ready to cheer on their football team to a victory.

As the game got closer to kickoff, fans started to peel away from their drinking tents to head to the gates.

We got in at 4:00 pm and others got in around 4:30 pm. We were sitting in the Touchdown Terrace where we were served with hot dogs, gyros, nachos and cold drinks. Beer were served ice cold on tap or in a call or bottle.

This set the tone for the game.

WVU defense held Duquesne on their first drive, however on a punt the special teams for the Mountaineers touched the ball and Duquesne recovered and scored a couple plays after that to take a 7-0 lead over the Mountaineers.

WVU would take a 14-10 lead late into the second quarter, but with the offense sputtering the game would halt due to a weather delay.

Once the game got back underway it seemed like WVU offense exploded. Maybe it was because Neal Brown allowed someone else to call the plays.

WVU won the game, 56-17. Earning their first victory of the 2023 season.

The sunset was cool, too. Oh, so was the Country Roads ambulance.

West Virginia will now prepare for the Backyard Brawl against bitter rival, Pitt. Pitt is coming off a 27-21 loss to Cincinnati.

I will send out my prediction of that game later on this week.
