MORGANTOWN, WV – On Saturday, West Virginia will look to bounce back at home against Duquesne. The Mountaineers are listed as high favorites and should easily get the win.
The Mountaineers could only muster eight points in the second half of their 38-15 loss to the No. 7 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions after only being down 14-7 at the half.
One of the most impressive things in the loss was how the Mountaineers offense played against the Nittany Lions rush and defensive line pressure. They allowed the running game to somewhat move the ball, but with the lack of receiving play makers, it was hard for Garrett Greene to move the ball downfield.
Look for that to change this weekend.
After the game, Neal Brown was asked about Penn State quarterback play. “We wanted him to beat us, and he did”, said Brown. The fact of the matter is this; Penn State left points on the field with missed field goals, which could have made the final outcome 44-15.
Penn Stated scored 24 points in the second half.
As for this weekend, West Virginia must win this game before the bitter Backyard Brawl with Pitt next weekend.
Greene will have over 300 yards passing against Duquesne. The defense will record two interceptions and CJ Donaldson will rush for two touchdowns in a blowout win.
Prediction: WVU 40, Duquesne 10
