Morgantown, West Virginia – Redshirt senior offensive lineman Chase Behrndt officially announced on social media moments ago that he is leaving the West Virginia football program following the team’s bowl game.

Although Behrndt is a senior, the NCAA is not counting this season against players’ eligibility and he could return.  However, Behrndt has decided to leave the university and move on to new opportunities.

Behrndt has been a mainstay on the West Virginia offensive line and has played in 31 games during his time with the team.  Behrndt has expressed interest in pursuing a career in professional wrestling following his career with the Mountaineers: “”That’s something I’ve always loved,” he admits. “I’ve always been a big fan of it ever since I was a little kid.”

In his farewell message to West Virginia fans, Behrndt said, “I hate giving long speeches.  To the whole state of West Virginia, I love you and thank you for everything.  76.  HOW WE DOIN.  PICK UP DRIVIN.  BUSCH LIGHT DRINKIN.  ONE HEAD BUTTIN SUN OF A GUN.  I’M OUT LOVE YA’LL.”
