In typical “anti-West Virginia” fashion, the referees helped the top ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs defeat the Mountaineers, .

Fouls were plentiful in the second half as the refs drained away the Mountaineers’ opportunity to clinch the game after leading 39-34 at halftime. It was a whistle-fest among the referees as Oscar Tshiebwe was fouled out during a critical point of the game. Losing the big man hurt, and it would ultimately be West Virginia’s demise.

Tshiebwe would finish with 14 points, and Derek Culver would yet again have a double-double, finishing with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Taz Sherman would have a solid effort off of the bench with 12 points and 3 rebounds.

The Mountaineers drop to 3-1 on the season, and travel to take on Georgetown on Sunday. The game tips off at 4:30.
