Morgantown, West Virginia – In the past few days, Neal Brown emerged as one of several coaches that Auburn was allegedly interested in hiring to replace the recently-fired head coach Guz Malzahn.

However, according to Auburn Undercover: Inside the Auburn Tigers, five coaches have been invited to interview for the position and Neal Brown was not listed as one of the coaches to be interviewed via Zoom.

The coaches that will be interviewed, according to the report, are Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, Louisiana head coach Billy Napier, Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott and Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables.

Although it’s unclear if more interviews will be conducted, it appears that the aforementioned names are the clear five favorites to land the position.

Brown, 40, is young, accomplished and a proven program-builder, so his name will come up often when there are open positions.  Although Brown has not said specifically that he wants to retire at West Virginia or stay here long-term, it appears that we can continue to trust the climb under Brown for now.
