Shane Lyons Predicts Which Bowl Game WVU Will Play In

Morgnatown, West Virginia – Moments ago, during halftime of the West Virginia versus Bellarmine basketball game, West Virginia’s Director of Athletics, Shane Lyons, was asked which bowl game he thought the Mountaineers would end up in and Lyons seems to have a very good idea where that will be.

“Well, it looks like, based on everything I’m looking at, that we’ll up in Arizona in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.  We haven’t been there for several years.  The other possibility is heading back to Memphis, but a lot of times they don’t want to send you to the same place in back to back years, even though last year was a shorter trip.  My bet would be Arizona in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.”

The Guaranteed Rate Bowl game in Phoenix, Arizona is played on December 28th and could match the Mountaineers up with a mid-level Big Ten team like Penn State (7-5) or Maryland (6-6).  A bowl game against Penn State would be extremely compelling and a rematch with Maryland – a rival the Mountaineers lost to in the first week of the season – would be fun.

Lyons also added that West Virginia will know where and who they will play on Sunday.  Stay tuned!
