Morgantown, West Virginia – West Virginia Director of Athletics Shane Lyons responded to rumors of Neal Brown interviewing at Auburn on the MetroNews Talkline with Hoppy Kercheval today.
Lyons said the following of the rumors: “A lot of people contacted me over the past few days asking if he (Brown) was going to interview this week and he’s not going to interview.”
“There is nothing to these rumors. Neal and I have a very close relationship and there’s a lot of trust there between he and I. We had a conversation about the rumors yesterday and he said, ‘You’ll be the first person to know if I’m interested in other jobs. I’m not interested in other jobs.”
Lyons said that Brown continued: “I’m happy here, my wife is happy here, my kids are happy here.”
Lyons closed by saying, “We have a coach that a lot of people think very highly of, so we’re lucky to have Neal Brown and it’s my job to keep him here as long as we can and to continue to build the Mountainer program.”
There you have it. It appears that Neal Brown will not interview at Auburn afterall and for the very first time, we’ve heard that he’s happy here and wants to remain here in Morgantown.
