The NFL is expected to be able to continue as scheduled in 2020. However, fans attending games has largely been in question since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, the Pittsburgh Steelers were the first team to announce a major decision regarding fans in 2020.

According to ESPN, the Steelers will require fans to wear a face mask if fans are allowed to attend, as well as social distancing among them.

The Director of Communications for the Steelers, Burt Laurten, gave an update on the situation; “Our goal is to is to have fans at Heinz Field this season with the understanding that social distancing as well as fans being required to wear face masks, will play a role in the capacity to ensure a safe environment….”

This could be the first major domino to fall when it comes to fan attendance in 2020.

Will fans in every sport be required to wear a mask? It is likely.
