The Mountaineers fall short against Jayhawks at Allen Fieldhouse

The West Virginia Mountaineers went into Allen Fieldhouse today and almost got their first win in program history at “The Phog”, but fell short and lost to the Kansas Jayhawks by a score of 60-53.

West Virginia was led by Freshman Oscar Tshiebwe, who had a double-double at halftime and finished with 17 points and 17 rebounds.  Sophomore Derek Culver struggled offensively and ended the game with 5 points and 12 rebounds.  Miles McBride added 12 points.

Kansas was paced by Udoka Azubuike, who had 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Sophomore guard Devon Dotson, who finished with 16 points.

West Virginia next plays at Oklahoma State in two days on Monday, January 6th at 9:00PM.  The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
