Three HUGE Visitors for Tonight’s Game

“Raw Enigma”, Seny Ndiaye

Bob Huggins sees basketball potential better than anyone and he is one of the only coaches to offer the enormously athletically gifted Seny Ndiaye.  Ndiaye, a 6’11 210 pound center currently playing for the powerhouse program Huntington Prep, is very, very raw, but has massive potential.

Ndiaye, a native of Senegal, is teammates with future Mountaineer Isaiah Cottrell, who is a 4 star Top 100 recruit in the 2020 class and will come to Morgantown to play for West Virginia next season.  As Bob Huggins attempt to open up a pipeline from Huntington Prep to Morgantown, bringing Cottrell and Ndiaye would be a great start.  Ndiaye currently averages 2.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks in two games in a reserve role for the ultra-talented Huntington Prep team.

Although Ndiaye has yet to decide, it certainly seems like he’s a West Virginia lean right now.  He also holds offers from Providence, Washington State and St. John’s, but West Virginia was the first to offer and he’s ready to announce soon.  I spoke with him recently and when asked when he expects to commit, Ndiaye said, “Very soon God willing.”

Hopefully Huggins can lock down this commitment before more coaches and teams become aware of this incredibly gifted big man.  This is a player with unlimited potential and traits similar to former Mountaineer Sagaba Konate.  This is a prototypical Bob Huggins’ project player who will one day be exceptional in the right system.  The right place for Seny Ndiaye is West Virginia University.

Isaiah Cottrell

Cottrell, a 6’10 four star forward, has been absolutely terrific for the juggernaut Huntington Prep team this year.  Although Duke commit Jaemyn Brakefield gets more attention, Cottrell has been the most consistent player on the team and his length and skill will be invaluable for the Mountaineers as a Freshman next season.

Cottrell has already committed to the Mountaineers and will hopefully be able to bring teammate Seny Ndiaye with him to Morgantown.

In addition, another Huntington Prep player is in town tonight to watch the Mountaineers play the Kansas Jayhawks tonight:

Shane Dezonie

Dezonie,  a 6-4 190 pound small forward from Jersey City, New Jersey, is a four star prospect in the class of 2021.  Dezonie is the 81st ranked recruit in the 2021 class and has flown largely under the radar for such a highly-ranked player.

Dezonie only holds offers from Hartford, La Salle, Rutgers, Ole Miss and Temple, and a huge win against the #3 ranked team in the country would be a huge first step in landing this extremely talented player.

Landing Ndiaye, Cottrell and Dezonie together would not only open up the enormous possibilities of a Huntington Prep to West Virginia pipeline, it would also add to an already enormously talented 2020-2021 team.
