Morgantown, West Virginia – Here’s what we know so far: Darnell Wright, the 6’6 330 pound five star offensive lineman, officially left the University of Tennessee on Friday, January 22nd, according to the school’s official student database.
The other thing that we know is that Wright will likely enroll at his new school very quickly in order to be eligible to play next season. In fact, according to WVU’s Academic Calendar, the last day to register for Spring 2021 classes is tomorrow.
With Wright officially gone from the University of Tennessee and West Virginia University being the overwhelming favorite to land him, his enrollment in Morgantown appears to be a near certainty.
With that said, Wright is not yet in the transfer portal, so he has not been allowed to be in contact with the West Virginia coaching staff. This could make a potential move to Morgantown somewhat more complicated.
Although this is a very fluid situation, here’s how I expect it will play out: 1.) Darnell Wright will remove any mention of Tennessee from his social media. 2.) He will officially enter the transfer portal. 3.) He will speak with Neal Brown and the West Virginia coaching staff. 4.) He will enroll at West Virginia University. 5.) He will be eligible to play for the Mountaineers next season.
6.) He will be the starting right guard/tackle on the West Virginia offensive line next year. 7.) West Virginia will have the top rushing attack in the Big 12 Conference. 8.) Darnell Wright will be a Big 12 First Team Offensive Lineman. 9.) West Virginia will win the Big 12. 10.) West Virginia will win the national championship.
All right, I don’t know about 6-10, but 1-5 seems inevitable. Tomorrow is a big day for Darnell Wright and a very big day for the West Virginia Mountaineers!
