Tony Gibson last roamed the sidelines in Morgantown in 2018. His departure came after former head coach Dana Holgorsen left for the same position with the Houston Cougars. Since he’s been gone, Gibson has made a name for himself with the NC State Wolfpack.

According to Pro Football Focus, Gibson will be the best defensive coordinator in the ACC heading into the 2023 season.

I’m 2022, NC State gave up 19 points, 100 rushing yards, and 226 passing yards per game. The Wolfpack had the top ranked defense in the ACC statistically.

West Virginia, who may be on the search for a new head coach in 2024, will likely keep a close eye on Gibson throughout the season.
