Tony Mathis, Jr. Transfers to Rival School

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Moments ago, former West Virginia running back Tony Mathis, Jr. announced that he is transferring to play for Dana Holgorsen at the University of Houston.

Mathis accumulated 943 yards on 229 carries and 6 rushing touchdowns. He also added 17 receptions for 64 yards and 1 receiving touchdown. However, with a crowded backfield, his carries and snaps were expected to be greatly reduced if he remained with the Mountaineers this season.
