Morgantown, West Virginia – Last weekend, Bob Huggins flew to Lexington, Kentucky to meet with former Kentucky Wildcats player Dontaie Allen.
Allen, a former four star guard from Falmouth, Kentucky, recently entered the transfer portal after playing two seasons with the Kentucky Wildcats.
Huggins had dinner with Allen and his family over the weekend, hoping to convince him to play for the Mountaineers. Allen, who averaged 2.2 points and 1.2 rebounds per game, decided to stay close to home, choosing to play for Western Kentucky.
Huggins and his staff have been very productive in the transfer portal so far this offseason, but losing Allen is a big loss for West Virginia. Although he wasn’t successful at Kentucky, he is a big-time talent who could have been a go-to scorer for the Mountaineers next season.
