MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Yesterday on the New Heights Podcast featuring NFL superstars and brothers Jason and Travis Kelce, it was revealed that Travis Kelce, who is dating pop superstar Taylor Swift, wanted to play basketball at West Virginia under Bob Huggins.

‘West Virginia is where I wanted to play basketball,” Kelce said during his podcast. “I wanted to play for Coach Bob Huggins, the legendary Huggy. Huggy Bear, man, the Cincinnati Bearcats legend.”

Kelce continued: “He had just moved to West Virginia from Kansas State. He kind of honored a few of those scholarships they had already given out. It was kind of up in the air, I’m not even sure if I went there if I would have had a full scholarship the first year I went there. Either way, I fell in love with how Coach Huggins ran his program and I knew he was kind of a coach that I would respect and want to play for. I went to Dad and said, “Man, I really want to play basketball at West Virginia under Huggs” and he was like, “You’re a man of your word, you don’t go back on your word. You already committed, don’t be like these other guys.”

Although he went on to play football at Cincinnati and later to become one of the greatest tight ends in the history of the NFL, Travis Kelce was very close to playing basketball for Bob Huggins at West Virginia University!
