Morgantown, WV – Arguably WVU’s most significant loss to the NCAA Transfer Portal, Trey Lathan, has decided where he will land next in his college career. His next destination will surely ruffle the feathers of Mountaineer fans all across West Virginia.
According to Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer of 247Sports, Lathan is expected to commit to the Kansas Jayhawks out of the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Lathan, who will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, played a key role for the Mountaineer defense in 2024. The Florida native accounted for 79 tackles, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble during his sophomore campaign.
His freshman year was cut short after four games when Lathan suffered a season-ending leg injury. During those four appearances, he accumulated 27 tackles and a forced fumble.
A member of the 2022 class, Lathan is a former 247Sports three-star prospect. Pitt, Arizona State, and Penn State were among the teams that recruited him out of high school.
