Morgantown, West Virginia – Earlier this evening, West Virginia Mountaineers defensive coordinator Jordan Lesley was announced as a finalist for the head coaching position at Troy.
Lesley, who earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Troy, also served as the defensive tackles and defensive line assistant coach at Troy from 2016-2018 under Neal Brown.
However, Leslie did not get the job. Instead, former Neal Brown assistant and current Kentucky defensive coordinator Jon Sumrall has been named the new head coach at Troy.
Although it’s no doubt disappointing for Jordan Lesley to not be hired as the head coach at his alma mater, he’s been impressive as the defensive coordinator for the Mountaineers and will be a big part of West Virginia’s success in the future.
Sources: Troy is finalizing a deal to make Kentucky CO-DC Jon Sumrall the school’s next head coach. Sumrall is an Alabama native, former Troy assistant head coach and was a key part of Neal Brown’s success at school. Deal expected to be done soon. https://t.co/cLyn20r9hB
