Morgantown, West Virginia – Moments ago, redshirt senior linebacker VanDarius Cowan announced that he’s committing to play for the Maryland Terrapins.

Cowan, a former defensive player for the Mountaineers, played in 10 games this season for West Virginia, compiling 15 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and 1 sack.

Cowan was ejected for a vicious targeting penalty against Kansas State and never saw playing time after that.

Although Cowan was a highly-regarded player out of high school and after transferring from Alabama, he struggled with injuries and behavior issues, and he is perhaps one of the most disappointing players in West Virginia football history.
