WHEELING, West Virginia — Best Virginia, a collection of former West Virginia basketball players, won their opening round game in the TBT, defeating Dubois Dream 70-68 in the Elam Ending.
Erik Stevenson, who played for the Mountaineers last season, hit the game-winning 3 point shot to send Best Virginia to the 2nd round. Following the shot, Stevenson immediately made his way to the sidelines, looked for his former head coach Bob Huggins, and pointed at him. Huggins replied by giving him a thumbs up.
After the game, Stevenson said, “That’s my guy forever”, in reference to pointing to Huggins.
