WATCH: Tavon Austin Dominates in Preseason Opener

Jacksonville, Florida – Tavon Austin, who was signed earlier this month by the Jacksonville Jaguars, showed he can still do it last night in his first press on game with the team.

Austin finished the game with 4 receptions, 52 yards and 1 touchdown, and new Jaguars’ head coach Urban Meyer was impressed with the effort.

”Tavon was all over ball tonight,” Meyer said following the game.

In the first half, Jaguars backup quarterback Gardner Minshew appeared to be trying to connect with Jags’ tight end Tim Tebow, but Austin jumped out of nowhere to snag it away before it got to Tebow.  Check out the play below:

In the 3rd quarter, Austin got the Jaguars on the scoreboard first with a 5 yard touchdown reception from QB C.J. Beathard.

Austin is entering his ninth season in the NFL after initially being drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the first round (8th overall) of the 2013 draft.

His career totals include 100 games played – 75 with the Rams (2013-17), 21 with the Cowboys (2018-19) and four with the Packers (2020).

Austin has recorded 3,366 scrimmage yards in his nine-year career (1,340 rushing yards and 2,026 receiving yards). He has also served as a returner, totaling 188 punt returns for 1,512 yards and 25 kick returns for 451 yards.
