Week Eight Big 12 Predictions

The Big 12 title race is beginning to take shape. Today, we make our predictions for week eight in the wild, wild Midwest.

  • Oklahoma at TCU, Noon on ABC

Oklahoma hasn’t been consistent in 2020, making me concerned for how they will perform against TCU. The Horned Frogs were able to win at Texas, but lost to Kansas State the following week. This is a game I could see TCU winning – but I don’t think they will. Spencer Rattler does just enough in the end to secure the win for the Sooners.

  • Kansas at Kansas State, Noon on FS1

The Jayhawks weren’t all bad in Morgantown, but their offense did absolutely nothing after the first quarter. Even without Skylar Thompson, this will be a walk in the park for the Wildcats. Expect Kansas State to put on a show from start to finish.

  • Baylor at Texas, 3:30 on ESPN

Texas is the hardest team in the conference to understand. Sometimes they look superhuman, and others they fall flat. This will be one of those instances where they barely squeak by. The Bears don’t have the offense to keep up with Sam Ehlinger and the Longhorns.

Texas 35, Baylor 26

  • Iowa State at Oklahoma State

Could this be a preview of the Big 12 Championship Game? Maybe. Will this be the game of the week in the conference? Absolutely. Expect a defensive battle until the end. Give me the Cowboys in a low-scoring affair.

  • WVU at Texas Tech, 5:30 on ESPN2

It is time for WVU to put up or shut up. If they drop this game, we are well on our way to another mediocre season. If they win, they may just contend in the upper-tier of the Big 12. The Mountaineers will be out for revenge after being embarrassed by the Red Raiders at home in 2019. Give me West Virginia and their defense.
