This weekend will likely be the most important of the 2020 Big 12 season. The docket is filled with several pivotal games, meaning we could have our two likely conference championship game participants by the time the final whistle blows on Saturday.
Here are our week thirteen Big 12 predictions:
- Iowa State at Texas, Noon on ABC (11/27):
If I had to pick a game that I think will be the best of the weekend, it would be this one. Expect this to be a defensive slugfest that comes down to the wire in Austin. As we witnessed when WVU played Texas, the Longhorns always seem to get favorable calls at home. The officials will once again have an influence on the outcome of this game.
Texas 27, Iowa State 21 - Texas Tech at Oklahoma State, Noon on FOX:
Honestly, Oklahoma State has kind of fell off over the course of the last few weeks. Things just aren’t right in Stillwater right now. When the Red Raiders come to town, I expect them to be motivated, and have momentum coming off of their win against Baylor. However, the Cowboys will make a play or two down the stretch that prove to be the difference.
Oklahoma State 35, Texas Tech 27 - Kansas State at Baylor, 7:00 on ESPN2:
Sheesh – what the hell happened to Kansas State? Not only did they lose to Iowa State, they got obliterated. That was the kind of loss that could derail an entire team, and I think it will still be lingering by the time the Wildcats take the field against Baylor. The Bears have been close several times this season, and if they make this one close, there’s a good chance they could finally come away with the victory. Give me the Bears.
Baylor 31, Kansas State 20 - Oklahoma at West Virginia, 7:30 on ABC:
Oklahoma is on a roll, and the Mountaineers are playing solid defense. However, as history tells us, it does not matter the shape these two teams are in going into the game, the Sooners will find a way to win. I expect it to be much of the same on Saturday. West Virginia will come out motivated, but the Sooners will make the important plays down the stretch to put this one away.
Oklahoma 38, West Virginia 17 - TCU at Kansas, 8:00 on FS1:
Despite Kansas’ struggles, they always seem to play TCU tight. I believe it will be a little too close for comfort for the Horned Frogs for much of the game, but they will pull away and win by double digits in the end. The Jayhawks are well on their way to 0-10.
TCU 31, Kansas 14
