West Virginia Adding 7’2 Big Man

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The West Virginia Mountaineers have already put together one of the top transfer basketball classes in the country, adding Jose Perez, Kerr Kriisa, Jesse Edwards, RaeQuan Battle, Quinn Slazinski, Jeremiah Bembry, Akok Akok and Noah Farrakhan.

Now, it appears that the Mountaineers have added a massive center to back up Jesse Edwards at the center position. Ali Ragab, a 7’2 center originally from Cairo, Egypt, is expected to sign with West Virginia.

Ragab, who last played for Gannon University in Erie Pennsylvania, averaged  3.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 11.1 minutes per game during the 2021-2022 season. Ragab also led his team in block shots with 31 on the season despite the lack of playing time. Last season, he averaged 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while blocking 15 shots on the season.

Ragab is considered a project, but he has a huge frame and a big-time potential, particularly as a defensive player. It’s unclear at this time if he will join the team under scholarship or as a walk-on.
