MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Moments ago, it was revealed that West Virginia safeties coach Dontae Wright will leave the Mountaineers’ coaching staff to become the new defensive coordinator at Troy.
Troy recently hired former West Virginia offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Gerard Parker as their new head coach. Wright, a Lousia, Kentucky native, was previously a defensive coordinator at Morehead State and Tennessee Tech before ultimately taking the safeties coach position at West Virginia in 2020.
With Wright leaving, it could potentially open the door for the exit of West Virginia’s starting safety Aubrey Burks, who has been rumored to be leaving the program recently. Stay tuned to The Voice of Morgantown for more updates on this developing story!
