Morgantown, West Virginia – West Virginia defensive coordinator/outside linebackers coach Jordan Lesley is a candidate to replace recently-fired Chip Lindsey as the head coach at Troy.
Lindsey was fired after going 15-19 in three seasons after West Virginia head coach Neal Brown went 35-16 overall and 4-0 in bowl games over four seasons at Troy.
Lesley, who earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Troy, also served as the defensive tackles and defensive line assistant coach at Troy from 2016-2018 under Neal Brown.
Now, according to The Athletic, Lesley is a top candidate to become the head coach at his alma mater.
The WVU defense had an outstanding year in 2020, leading the nation in pass defense and ranking No. 4 in in total defense (291.4), No. 21 in scoring defense (20.5), No. 23 in interceptions (11), No. 24 in pass efficiency defense (121.52) and No. 28 in rushing defense (131.8).
Texas A&M’s Tommie Robinson and WVU DC Jordan Lesley, both former Troy Trojans, headline a strong group of Power 5 assistants with deep ties to the school. What we’re hearing about the Troy head coaching search: https://t.co/iq18qpdjZ7
