Morgantown, West Virginia – Jacolby Spells, a 5’11 170 pound four star cornerback from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has committed to play for the West Virginia Mountaineers in 2022.
Spells chose the Mountaineers over Miami, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas A&M and Virginia, among many, many others.
Spells was the starting cornerback as a junior for an American Heritage team that won a 5A state title last season and is one of the returning stars for the team this season.
Spells posted a video of his highlights from his last game that has drawn a tremendous amount of criticism from social media viewers today.
The video shows a video of Spells playing extremely aggressively with captions “I be in the weight room a lot he must of not know” and “If he watch film he would of know this was coming.”
One play showed Spells throwing a wide receiver out of out of bounds and drawing a penalty flag.
Although Overtime Sports said, “Bro just a MENACE of the field”, several players and coaches spoke out against Spells’ play, referring it to dirty and “not football.”
Check out the highlight below and decide whether this is aggressive play or dirty, illegal tactics:
