CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — The West Virginia Mountaineers once again had a magical performance in Charlotte during a bowl game, beating the North Carolina Tar Heels, 30-10, to finish the season with a 9-4 record and plenty of momentum heading into the 2024 season.

The Mountaineers got on the board on the very first play of the game when Garrett Greene connected with freshman wide receiver Traylon Ray for a 75 yard touchdown, and West Virginia never looked back.

The Mountaineers were led by quarterback Garrett Greene, who finished the game 12/24 for 228 yards, 1 touchdown and 0 interceptions. Greene also rushed 9 times for 64 yards. Freshman running back Jahiem White had 11 carries for 46 yards and 1 touchdown, and West Virginia native Hudson Clement had 5 receptions for 89 yards.

With the win, West Virginia has completely smashed preseason expectations. The Mountaineers were predicted to finish in last place in the Big 12 Conference and were expected to only win a few games all season. Instead, West Virginia finished 9-4 and have most of its talented offensive players returning in 2024. There are a lot of reasons to be excited to be a West Virginia football fan right now!

Tyrin Bradley had perhaps one of the best interceptions you’ll ever see when he made a one-handed pick in the 3rd quarter with North Carolina driving.

All-American defensive back Beanie Bishop had a huge 78 yard punt return in the 2nd quarter that changed the complexion of the game.

Jahiem White put the nail in the coffin with an 11 yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter.
