Morgantown, West Virginia – The West Virginia Mountaineers are going dancing! After finishing the regular season 19-14 overall and 7-11 in the Big 12 Conference, the Mountaineers have earned a 9 seed and will play against the 8 seeded Maryland Terrapins in Birmingham, Alabama in the South Region in the first round of the NCAA Tournament! The winner of the game will play the #1 seeded Alabama Crimson Tide in the Round of 32.
West Virginia was led by four players who averaged double-figures this season. Senior guard Erik Stevenson averaged 15.5 points per game and senior forward Tre Mitchell averaged 11.6 points and 5.5 rebounds. Point guard Kedrian Johnson finished the season averaging 11.2 and 3.2 assists while Emmitt Matthews, Jr. added 10.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
