West Virginia Football Hit With Large Numbers of COVID Cases

Morgantown, West Virginia – Moments ago, West Virginia University released a COVID-19 testing update on its official website at wvusports.com, and the numbers have increased quite a bit since the previous update.

According to the update, “Since testing began in June, a total of 518 tests have been administered.  Positive test results since June total 41 with the breakdown per sport showing 28 in football, five in men’s basketball, six in women’s basketball, one in women’s soccer and one staff member.  All individuals entered self-isolation for 14 days at the time of their positive result and contact tracing was initiated.”

28 positive tests on a single football team is a large enough percentage to consider new measures to prevent the further spread.  We wish all of the affected players on the team a quick and safe recovery.
